Are you thinking about your readers when you write your future paper? Who are they? What do they expect from your manuscript? When we write a scientific paper, we should take in great consideration our audience, and always assure that our message is being correctly interpreted. This is not an easy task.
Because becoming a skilled scientific writer not only assures an optimal outreach of scientific data, but also facilitates a thriving professional career. CERFA (Spanish Scientist in Germany Association) brings to you the possibility to attend this useful fee less scientific writing workshop. (Registration needed, please look section HOW)
This workshop is specially designed for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) graduate students and junior postdocs who want to improve their writing skills, to precisely communicate their ideas.
During this two-hour long workshop, attendees will discover the power of structure to deliver a clear message to their audience. They will briefly acquire practical techniques to write accurate sentences, paragraphs and sections that assure readers interpret the writer’s intended message. Finally, they will be presented some tools to organize their data and ideas to create an appealing reader-friendly scientific paper.
The trainer of this workshop is Dr. Elisa Garcia, a postdoctoral scientist who has worked in highly competitive scientific centers in Spain, the UK and the USA during the last 10 years. Due to her increasing interest for scientific writing, she completed an entire course on Academic Writing at the School of Continuing Education at Columbia University and attended several grant and paper writing workshops imparted by the Postdoctoral Association of Columbia University. Since 2017, Elisa has successfully developed and led the offered workshop to the Department of Chemistry at Cologne University, and to postdoctoral researchers in their annual retreat at Champalimaud Center, Lisbon.
The workshop will take place at Seminar Room A, in the Faculty of Chemistry, on the University of Cologne (Luxemburgerstr 116, Building 322d)
